RIW CPD Technical Seminar
‘Waterproofing at or Below
Ground Level - Design Considerations & Guidance’
RIW’s CPD Technical Seminar offers
advice to architects and engineers on how to develop
a comprehensive and effective waterproofing strategy
as part of the specification process for at or below
ground-level structures.
This one-hour technical presentation
gives an introduction to BS8102 (Code of Practice for
the protection of structures against water from the
ground) outlining the critical design considerations
that influence the form of construction and material
selection. It also includes guidance on the most commonly
used waterproofing materials, including reference to
strengths and weaknesses of the systems, together with
application methods and advice on surface preparation.
Since the launch of the new seminar in Summer 2005,
RIW Technical Advisors have presented it to over 200
architectural practices across the UK, including Allies
& Morrison, Nightingale Associates, Broadway Malyan
and Sheppard Robson.
