RIW’s new range
of technical literature has been short-listed for the
Construction Marketing Awards 2006 Best Use
of Technical Literature (see
CMA 06 website), sponsored by AJ.
Architects and Engineers regularly seek advice from
RIW’s Technical Support Team
concerning structural waterproofing, and any assistance
that simplifies the process of developing a waterproofing
strategy is always well received.
With this in mind, our new technical literature was
designed to be interactive and reflect the specification
process. Using our new Waterproofing Product Binder,
complex waterproofing problems can be solved by following
three simple steps.
In addition to the Product Binder we also offer a number
of supporting documents such as case studies, project
reference lists, fact files and technical guidance notes.
Customer Feedback
Since its launch, our Waterproofing Product Binder has
been distributed to over 2,000 specifiers. Additionally,
almost 1,000 have been distributed via RIBA to practice
libraries across the UK.
During 2006, we conducted some market research to gather
feedback from specifiers who had been using the Product
Binder. As a result we learnt that they found it easy
to use, and that it simplified the specification process
for them. All of the specifiers we asked said they would
like to be able to use the binder in electronic format,
but only in addition to the hard copy, not in place
of it.
As a result of this market research, we are now planning
to produce an electronic version of our Waterproofing
Products Binder, either in CD-ROM format or as an interactive
pdf, which will be available in 2007.
We believe the success of our technical
literature is due to the customer-driven approach taken
during the planning and development stages.
