April 2007
Ever wondered what your peers
are reading…?
RIW
recently conducted some market research into the reading
and researching habits of specifiers across the UK.
We interviewed 150 architects by telephone, and obtained
some very interesting results.
We discovered that the most widely-read professional
journal by far is Building Design (63% reported to read
it regularly) followed by The Architects’ Journal.
Barbour Index and RIBA Product Selector are by far the
most widely used supplier directories (this includes
hard copy directories and online directory services).
39% of those questioned claimed that they only research
supplier information online and no longer use hard copy
directories.
18% claimed to not use any hard copy or online directories
to source supplier information. Many of these individuals
reported that they prefer to use Google or a similar
search engine to search for supplier websites directly,
which is great news for RIW since our
website tends to perform well in search engine listings!
