Sporting Success for RIW!
By:- Martin Radford, National
Sales & Marketing Manager We
are proud to announce that RIW Toughseal
has recently been specified for application on the Ascot
Racecourse redevelopment project.
The £185 million redevelopment is a HOK Sport
Ltd project which includes a new grandstand, internal
galleria, and an onsite hotel with health club and restaurant.
1,000 sq.m. of RIW Toughseal
will be used in the site’s many plant room areas.
RIW Toughseal is a
solvent free polymer modified colour coded coating based
on epoxy resins. It is typically used to provided a
water and water vapour proof barrier in areas that require
excellent tensile adhesion, chemical resistance and
abrasion resistance and is ideal for use in plant rooms
and under raised access floors. RIW
Toughseal has a Class 1 fire rating
and is UV resistant.
Additionally, RIW
Heviseal has recently been applied
on the new Wembley Stadium development.
The eye-catching stadium was designed by the prestigious
Foster & Partners, and will officially open with
The FA Cup Final 2006 in May. With 90,000 seats it will
be the largest football stadium in the world with every
seat under cover.
RIW Heviseal is a
cold applied bitumen based coating filled with fibres
and minerals which dries to form a uniform UV resistant
and waterproof coating. It is typically used to provide
a protective coating to concrete or steel superstructures
or other structures such as retaining walls and plinths
when the membrane is to be left exposed to UV for a
long period of time. 10,000 sq.m. of RIW
Heviseal was specified for protecting
10 staircase cores within the stadium prior to being
clad.
Historically, RIW
is no stranger to waterproofing all manner of sporting
venues and facilities. A wide range of RIW
products, including LAC, Flexiseal,
Heviseal and Sheetseal
were used at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club
to protect the underground structures beneath the famous
Centre Court, and other applications throughout the
refurbishment of Centre Court and No.1 Court during
the mid-90’s.
Our Tilesafe and Toughseal
products have also been used in numerous David Lloyd,
Cannons, Living Well and Holmes Place leisure clubs
across the UK over the past few years, primarily for
wet room area applications.
