Double Success for RIW’s Award
Winning Website! By:-
Martin Radford, National Sales & Marketing Manager
RIW enjoyed a double
success at the first ever ContractJournal.com Web Awards,
walking away with two of the five titles on offer at
the event hosted at CJ’s offices in Sutton on
23rd November 2005.
The RIW website, www.riw.co.uk,
won the Outstanding Online Content award, beating off
strong challenges from Merlo UK and Balfour Beatty.
And www.riw.co.uk was also chosen as
the Judges Overall Winner by the panel, which included
Peter de Monnick, Global Director of Internet Business
for Contract Journal’s parent company, Reed Business
Information, and also representatives from the awards’
sponsor 4Projects.
CJ’s Online News Editor Tim Wood,
one of the judges, said: “We are absolutely delighted
with the response in what was the first event of its
kind for the construction industry. We had over 100
entries in total and it was hard compiling a shortlist.
Choosing the winners in each category was very difficult
because of the quality of presentations. What this event
does show is that the quality of the construction industry's
websites is up there with many other sectors and is
not the IT dinosaur some people make out.”
Martin Radford of RIW presented the
website to the panel of judges and the awards were later
presented by Peter De Monnick.
Nicola Gary of RIW said “The
RIW website was re-designed approximately
18 months ago, with a limited budget and resources.
Our aim all along was to put our customers first and
foremost in terms of the content available on the site,
and as a result, the volume of web traffic entering
the site per month has grown dramatically. We are proud
of our website, and are confident that it meets the
needs of our target market of specifiers and contractors,
who need fast access to comprehensive information about
RIW’s waterproofing systems.
Winning the two CJ awards has given us independent verification
that it is delivering something really relevant and
appropriate to our industry.
We are very flattered to be recognised in this way,
particularly as the judging panel included both representatives
from our industry as well as from the world of online
journalism. We look forward to returning next year to
defend our titles!”
