Structural Waterproofing
Structural Waterproofing products have been manufactured by RIW for over 80 years.
When RIW commenced trading in 1921 it specialised in liquid waterproofing and damp proofing products for. However, the range of products now consists of not just liquid products, but a range of sheet membranes, drainage boards and sodium bentonite based products. All these products share the same function - providing specifiers, users and clients with safe effective Structural Waterproofing.
A useful starting point when designing a structure that requires waterproofing and damp proofing is BS8102. This official document describes the various steps that need to be followed to ensure effective structural waterproofing.
The first step is to determine to what use the basement will be put. BS8102 describes four standards of waterproofing, ranging from the lowest which allows some water ingress, to a totally dry environment.
Once the grade has been selected soil conditions need to be determined, so an assessment can be made as to what levels and degrees of water pressure the structural and materials will be subjected to.
Only when these factors have been considered can the design of the Structural Waterproofing and the type of materials selection be decided upon. Although in theory the selection and design, sounds a relatively simple task, there are many decisions to be made. RIW Limited has over 80 years experience in waterproofing and damp proofing and has an extensive range of membranes and systems.
RIW Limited offers the benefit of this experience free of charge, to anyone involved in waterproofing and damp-proofing design and construction. We can assist in the most appropriate structural design and then advise on the most appropriate Structural Waterproofing membrane for the selected design.
In summary RIW Limited can assist with every aspect of successful structural waterproofing. |
