DPM
(Identify the most appropriate RIW product(s) for your specific application from the text below and click on the product icon on the right to access the product page for more information and downloadable data sheets).
An impervious membrane should always
be applied as a Damp Proof Membrane above or below a
ground floor slab to prevent water ingress into a structure.
Whilst RIW DPMs can be applied to either
a concrete blinding under the slab or internally to
the top of the slab, consideration should be given to
applying the DPM to the top of the slab, as the installation
and moisture sensitive internal finishes are protected
from any residual moisture in the concrete.
RIW DPMs are compatible for use with all commonly encountered
insulation materials.
RIW LAC is an effective DPM on insitu concrete slabs and has been used as such for over 80 years. The membrane can be used under a floating floor as well as under a screed.
RIW Flexiseal is a high performance alternative, with its colour coded quality control system and excellent flexibility making it especially suitable for modular floor construction; such as pre-cast planks or beam & block floors.
RIW Sheetseal
226 is a popular choice, as it can be applied quickly
with no drying time. With a factory-controlled thickness,
RIW Sheetseal
226 is also able to self-seal minor damage. Suspended
floors e.g. ‘beam and block’ are also easily
protected with RIW
Sheetseal 226 due to its elasticity.
RIW
Toughseal, a two-coat liquid applied epoxy coating,
is suitable for use as a finished surface membrane (e.g.
under raised access floors, plant rooms, bunded areas
and below levelling compounds) as it has excellent adhesion
to the substrate and a Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame
fire rating. |
