Plant room floors are generally bunded and/or waterproofed
to contain any leaks or spillages of liquids and fluids
from faulty tanks, plant or pipe work. The consequences
of leaks into critical areas adjacent, or rooms below,
can be costly and disruptive. Plant rooms in basement
areas also need a containment system to prevent contamination
of the ground and also to provide damp proofing to separate
electrical plant from other areas; such as basement
car parks designed as a Grade 1 environment, as described
in BS8102:1990.
RIW
Toughseal, a polymer modified epoxy membrane with
excellent resistance to chemicals and abrasion, can
be applied as an exposed waterproofing system to concrete
and masonry bunds. A slip retardant finish can be achieved
by dressing the second coat of RIW
Toughseal with RIW Aggregate grade 2. This procedure
together with colour coding is often adopted to define
specific access routes. An additional coat of RIW
Toughseal can be applied to encapsulate the aggregate
thus assisting maintenance and cleaning.
RIW Flexitread is a two component polyurethane based coating system, which is suitable for use where a membrane capable of accommodating movement of the substrate is required. |
